STUDIYING IN SANTIAGO

In Chile we don´t have a lot of good universities around the country, almost all universities only have campuses in Santiago, so a lot of young people are “forced” to come here to complete their higher education. This means they have to become independent at a really short age. This implies that they have to live alone or with people they haven’t met, learn how to cook (in case they don´t already know), sometimes get a job if they can't afford to live alone besides pay for they career, but the hardest part is being away from their families.
But there are good parts too, learning how to organize their lives can be really positive for a young person, it teaches you responsibility. You have to meet a lot of new people, who usually help you to get used to the new environment.

I think people shouldn’t be forced to change all their lives because they want to get a good education, which is a basic right everyone should get. I believe that institutions shouldn’t be so concentrated in Santiago and they should spread around the country to be more accessible.

  1. Hi! That's very interesting and I agree that education is a right for all people, therefore universities or institutes cannot be only in the center of the country. Santiago is not Chile!
